Hello! Let me tell you a bit about myself. I have no doubt in my mind that I have been called to be a midwife. I have been immersed in midwifery since 1997 when my mother became a licensed midwife. I was invited to be a guest at over 40 births before giving birth to my first two children. It was while witnessing those births that I truly learned of the value of out of hospital birth with a midwife. After experiencing care with a midwife for my own births, it solidified my calling and I felt it was time to officially be in the midwifery world. In one way or another I have been a part of the midwifery world now for 15 years. From being an apprentice, birth assistant, administrator of a birth center, to being a licensed midwife for a culmination of four plus years. I have attended over 400 births and been the primary (including under supervision as an apprentice) caregiver at over 200 births. I use my multifaceted education and experiences to continue the legacy of midwifery and provide truly customized care. I feel I practice in a way that straddles the line between traditional and modern midwifery. I continually strive to gain the knowledge of new techniques and skills without losing traditional values and techniques that are at midwifery's core. Such as being present for each woman's unique journey. Sometimes that means being hands off, while still monitoring for safety, watching a woman navigate labor independently. Sometimes that means being hands on helping to guide a woman through all stages of labor. Midwifery has been my life's work for many years and I am blessed to have been a part of so many blossoming families.
