Can I use my Medicaid coverage to cover the cost?  Unfortunately, no, Medicaid will not cover the cost of using our services.  It is a blessing for many that the Medicaid system exists for those who cannot pay out of pocket for maternity care.  The downside is there are not a lot of options for different types of care, such as using an out of hospital midwife.  Some women make the decision to invest in their care and pay out of pocket even though Medicaid would cover the cost of an in hospital birth.  They figure out a way to make payments and value the return on their investment. If you are looking for: 

• Relationship with your care provider 
• Education and tools for navigating pregnancy and very importantly, labor/birth
• One on one care from your midwife from your dedicated midwife. No shift work!  
• 24/7 availability for question/concerns 
• 12 weeks of postpartum care...and more 

then you might you might be one of those women.  There is a small bit of help from Medicaid, they will cover lab work which allows a small discount off your total cost.  We offer a limited number of women, who are committed and crave this kind of care, an opportunity for a discount or extended payments.  We know it is simply not doable for some families even with that but we want to do our best to offer this care to those who would be blessed to receive it.  If you are interested in this route please don't let financial hurdles be the only reason you don't reach out.
