Can I use my Medicaid coverage to cover the cost? Unfortunately, no, Medicaid will not cover the cost of utilizing our services. Many are grateful that the Medicaid system exists for those who cannot afford maternity care out of pocket. However, the downside is that there are limited options for various types of care, such as working with an out-of-hospital midwife. Some women choose to invest in their care and pay out of pocket, even though Medicaid would cover the cost of an in-hospital birth. They find a way to make payments and appreciate the value of their investment. If you are seeking:
- A strong relationship with your care provider
- Education and tools for navigating pregnancy and, importantly, labor/birth
- One-on-one attention from your dedicated midwife without shift work
- 24/7 availability for questions and concerns
- 12 weeks of postpartum care...and more
then you might be one of those women. Medicaid does offer a small amount of assistance by covering lab work, which provides a slight discount off your total cost. We offer a limited number of women, who are committed and desire this level of care, the chance for discounts or extended payment plans. We understand that for some families, even with this help, it may still be challenging, but we want to do our best to provide this care to those who would be fortunate to receive it. If you are interested in this option, please don’t let financial concerns be the sole reason you hesitate to reach out.
